How often have you worked longer hours, said yes to extra travel or projects, or hidden parts of you for the sake of employer/client relationships? How often do you hold yourself or others to standards of hard work that just seem right?
Your answers may be influenced by the Ideal Worker Phenomenon; cultural cues we've inherited that tell us hard work equals more hours, more achievement, and fewer demands that compete with work. Research has found Ideal Worker bias influences recruitment, hiring, promotion, and disproportionately impacts caregivers, especially women.
We're long overdue to ditch these outdated standards, intentionally envision what modern-day ideal work looks like, and champion making work work for more people as leaders. This workbook will help you get started.
